Powerful industrial development bolstered by high-tech and steady trade growth, especially in import and export, enabled the Tien Giang industry and trade sector to reaffirm its leading role and make its positive contributions to economic development. In particular, the sector always focuses on improving the business environment and boosting investment attraction.
In the first 10 months of 2024, the province's industrial production index rose 11.89% from a year earlier. Some industrial products expanded strongly, featured by copper pipes, tires, apparels, footwear and handbags. However, some companies still faced difficulties due to adverse impacts of high input prices, rising inflation in major export markets such as the US, the EU and Japan, which resulted in demand weakening from a year earlier.
As a leading advisor on administration of industry, trade and energy, the Tien Giang Department of Industry and Trade has regularly monitored and grasped business performances of local companies; promptly removed obstacles or proposed resolution to competent authorities; and continued to implement the project on Tien Giang industrial restructuring to 2020, with a vision to 2030, and the revised Tien Giang industrial development plan to 2020, with a vision to 2030.
The department has monitored, urged and supported localities to draw investment fund for industrial zone infrastructure projects to provide available land for investors; promptly appraised and given opinions on new investment projects and expanded investment projects; organized business matching activities to seek cooperation opportunities; promptly provided information on new central regulations, policies and guidelines on production and investment development.

In the service sector, the province will strongly develop eco-tourism, resort, marine tourism, rural agriculture, culture - sports and medical tourism by tapping local natural, cultural and historical advantages; research to form new tourism products such as Tan Phuoc Safari Area and film scenes linked with Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve and Truc Lam Chanh Giac Tan Phuoc Zen Monastery if conditions are sufficient; and invest in influential modern commercial infrastructure and logistics development.
In the commercial sector, the province is currently carrying out procedures to attract investment fund for key projects such as: Tien Giang Trade and Service Center, Tien Giang Trade and Medical Service Complex, Tien Giang Agricultural Trade and Service Center, and Ward 6 Commercial and Service Area - My Tho City.
Siding with businesses and investors, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to enhance the business environment; actively improve the quality of consultations on building and implementing mechanisms, policies and plans for industrial and commercial development; maintain and reform business meetings and dialogues to promptly remove obstacles and facilitate investment inflows.
